AMU: special meeting of the University Court held today

Aligarh: Six members of the Aligarh Muslim University Court, Supreme governing body of the University, were elected unopposed to the Executive Council of the University.

The adjourned special meeting of the University Court was held today at NRSC Club. Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chhatari, Pro-Chancellor, presided over the meeting, while Prof. Tajuddin, Chief Election Officer declared the results.

Noted educationist, Prof. A. M. Pathan, former Vice Chancellor and former President of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Mr.Ameer Ahamed, Managing Director, Manappat Foundation, Kochi (Kerala), Mr. Asif Farooqi, Mumbai (Maharashtra), Philanthropist Mr. Nadeem Tarin, Mr. P.A. Inamdar, President, Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, Pune (Maharashtra) and Dr. Syed Zafar Mahmood, President, Zakat Foundation of India, New Delhi are the newly elected members of the Executive Council from within the members of the University Court.

The Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah welcomed the members of the University Court. In his address, Lt. Gen. Shah informed about the developments regarding the University’s minority status case. He also told that the election schedule for the AMU Students’ Union had been declared and the new student’s body will soon be in place. The above meeting was attended by 92 members.
