Senior Separatist leader Yasin Malik detained and charged with ‘waging war against state’

Yasin Malik, the senior separatist leader and chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front ( JKLF),along with his eight members of the group have been held and sent to Central Jail,Srinagar and slapped serious charges of waging ‘war against state’by the Jammu and Kashmir Police following two days after a protest rally had turned violent in which Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of police station Kothibagh, Fahad Tak have been seriously injured.

The separatist leader was detained on Friday afternoon when he was trying to take out march to protest against the killing of a woman and her six-year-old son who were shot dead by a village defence committee member in Rajouri district on December 24

The other eight members of JKLF namely Noor Kalwal, Showkat Bakhshi, Sheikh Rashid, Bashir Kashmiri, Gh Muhammad Dar, Ishfaq, Nazir Rather, Muneeb Javaid who are in police custody at Kothibagh police station were presented before a city judge on Sunday, December 27 have now been sent on 10 days judicial custody after the medical check up.

Kashmir Valley observed a bandh in protest to a call given by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani gainst the high handedness and other human rights violations by Members of the VDCS.

The demand for disbanding the VDC has gained momentum in recent days following a series of violence and other human rights violations committed allegedly by its members in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
