Uber driver in Bengaluru being interrogated for allegedly harassing, after twitter complaints

India, Bengaluru: Senior police officer of Bengaluru, MB Borlingaiya said, “The driver misbehaved with the lady on Tuesday evening”, adding that there was no charge of physical assault and that the police reacted to complaints about the journey posted on Twitter. So, Uber driver in  is being interrogated for allegedly harassing a woman passenger who used his taxi earlier this week.

The police officer said, “His (driver) name is Suresh and he is 21-22 years old and he is with Uber for past 1-2 months”. The passenger was on her way home from work when the driver allegedly harassed her. “In between at a junction the driver conducted himself in an unbecoming manner… and he misbehaved with the lady,” said Mr Borlingaiya. The police said that it is planning to do an “orientation” session with Uber’s management to ensure “When they are recruiting their drivers, security and safety aspects have to be integrated with the process and management.”
